Steve's Auto Service - A HistoryIn 1993, Steve's Auto Service was opened as a small repair shop in Madison, NJ. Ten years later, in 2006, Steve's Auto Service moved to its current location at 128 Washington Street, Morristown.
Owner Steve Bodenweiser and his experienced team perform work on all makes and models of vehicles, whether they are hybrids, diesels or gas engines. They can repair cars others send to the dealer. They can repair any computer or electrical problems. They also specialize in repairing classic British cars.
Steve Bodenweiser - Owner, Master TechnicianSteve Bodenweiser has been in the automotive industry as a technician for over thirty years. He started his automotive career in Chatham, NJ at the Getty Station, then worked at a dealership where he received training on fuel injection, air conditioning, brake service and electrical systems. From there he moved on to other independent shops, where he continued to learn through hands-on experience and formal class training.
Eventually Steve enrolled in the Automotive Service Excellence, or ASE program and passed their difficult series of tests to achieve his Master Auto Technician status. Steve then went on to receive his L-1 (Advance Level Specialist) certification in automotive computers, electronics and emissions. Today he is a member in full standing with the Mechanics Education Association. He attends training classes one or two nights a week to keep pace with the changes in automotive computer systems.While attending classes for today's cars, Steve stays current on the upgrades and improvements that have been made to the classic British cars. In 1979 he purchased a Triumph GT6 and then took the next several years to
completely restore it. In 2000 he purchased a second GT6 and restored it. Both cars have won several first prizes at car shows.Steve's obvious love of car repair and restoration as well as his passion for diagnostic technology and modern auto computer systems keep him at the forefront of his industry.
Ray Rodriguez - Service Writer, DiagnosticianRay Rodriguez is a lifetime resident of Morris county. He grew up and attended school in Madison. Ray started his automotive career in high school at a repair shop in Chatham.
Ray is our service writer and top diagnostician. He has vast experience in the automotive field.
Ray owned his own repair shop for several years. From his experience as a business owner, Ray brings a conscientious and responsible focus on understanding the needs of our clients. After that experience, he joined on as an “A” technician at both Volkswagen and Audi dealerships. Ray has had special training in the advanced computer systems of German cars.
Ray enjoys fishing, both fresh and salt water. His passions also include dirt track racing. In the summertime he rarely misses a dirt track race at New Egypt.
Art Garcia - TechnicianArt Garcia is a top technician. Art is transplanted from sunny California. He has experience with all cars, both foreign and domestic. Art is an expert engine rebuilder and he can also rebuild transmissions. He is a real asset to our shop.
Art is an expert diesel mechanic and has worked on cars and trucks since he was a young teenager at his uncle’s shop. Art has a true love of cars. He is always on the lookout for a bargain on a classic car. Art's affinity for engines and cars shows in his excellent work.
Dave Gude - Marketing Director and WebmasterDave Gude grew up in Chatham NJ and is a high school classmate and friend of Steve Bodenweiser. In 2008 the two long lost friends reconnected, and it seemed like only yesterday that they had listened to Led Zeppelin albums together and talked until all hours. Dave is now the Marketing Director for Steve's Auto Service
Dave is happily married to his former Chatham High School sweetheart and they have two grown children. Dave is a graduate of Appalachian State University and resides in North Carolina. On the weekends he sometimes drives up into the nearby mountains and gazes from the Blue Ridge Parkway off towards his distant homeland in the north.
Dave has many years of experience in database programming, graphic design, web and print publications and marketing. He looks forward to managing this website, creating newsletters for you and telling the story in pictures and words of Steve's Auto Service and the excellent work they do.
